Weekend Sushi and Sunshine

The number 1 question I get asked upon returning to the UK is without fail, “Why are you not tanned?” … some a little less subtly than others. Everyone sees pictures from my Instagram working out outdoors, having lunch in the sunshine and generally enjoying a year-round sunny climate, so I don’t blame them for being baffled by the lack of bronzed goddess skin!

But the truth is, like with most things readily available in life, I take the sunshine for granted and rarely make the time to soak it up and enjoy. It’s not going to last forever after all and the UK isn’t showing many signs of adopting a sunny-anything full season so this weekend, I decided it was to be a day of just that!

J and I hopped down to Zero Gravity (just a few minutes walk from our place in the Marina) and basked the weekend away.

Cute little spot right in the middle of pool … the atmosphere is upbeat, drinks are allowed in the pool – which is quite the anomaly for Dubai, and service is unexpectedly attentive!

The menu is vast so you can be sure to find something that suits. We opted for sashimi, burrata (which was better than I get served in most fine-dining restaurants), seabass ceviche, wakame salad and BBQ chicken wings.

Wakame salad is one of my favourite things to eat and this was no exception – it’s always a great option for a summer time lunch. Recipe coming soon!

We didn’t end up staying too late into the afternoon, but I’m a firm believer in just a few hours of sun a day can do the trick! Zero Gravity is not a place for sleeping and getting absorbed into a favourite novel but if you want atmosphere and great food, it’s the perfect place.

It’s AED 450 for a couple pass by the pool on the weekend and you can spend aed 150 of that on F&B. You can visit Zero Gravity’s website here for more details.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday and catching a glimpse of sunshine!
