A few weeks ago we received our wedding pictures and to say I was excited would be a complete understatement! We’ve been soaking them up in all their glory and now I cannot wait to share them with you all! Our photographer was absolutely incredible, capturing everything we wanted despite the difficult weather and has completely transported me back to the special and amazing day.
Her name is Emilie, and I have added all the details at the end of this post for everyone and everything from the dresses, photographer, hair, make up, florist and more.
There are SO many parts of the wedding I want to write about and endless photos to share, but I thought I’d break it down starting with the best of our getting ready shots, from both Jack’s and mine. Here is our the start of our wedding in pictures, I hope you enjoy them!
The Men …
J and I both had 4 groomsmen / bridesmaids. Jack had two best men (both called Jack!!), my brother Max and Louis. All of them were so lovely and helpful on the day and let’s be honest – they’re not bad on the eyes either (that’s excluding my brother as that would be weird to comment, and mainly talking about my Jack!) x
Us Girls …
Our colour scheme was blush colours, dusty pinks and whites. My maid of honour was my sister, Jordy and bridesmaids were best friends Ianthe and two Lucy’s!
The girls wore silk gorgeous dresses from Ghost, where they have a specific bridesmaids collection called ‘Dye-to-Order’. Not to mention they’re all stunning anyway so they carried them beautifully. The first time I saw the dress was in the recent James Bond movie, where Léa Sedoux rocks it walking down the train – I’ve had it in mind ever since!
I stayed at South Lodge hotel the night before which had the perfect rooms to get ready in for a big group, overlooking the grounds with lots of natural light flooding in. My younger brothers and sister joined who were our flower girls and page boy – I think they look too cute for words!
It took a while to get to sleep the night before, I was full of butterflies and to be honest it all seemed incredibly sureal. I knew I’d be walking down the aisle the next day but it still didn’t seem like it was going to happen. So many hours, days and years spent thinking about this day and I was a little overwhelmed with the fact that it was actually happening, with the most incredible man who I’m very lucky to be with.
The Dress …
My real fairy tale beginning! My wedding dress was from Pronovias and I knew from the second I tried it on it was the ‘one’. I had always planned to go for more of a slim fitting dress but as soon as I put it on and started swooshing about, it was rather hard to look elsewhere!
I had quite a bit of work done to it by an at-home tailer, as wedding dresses from Pronovias are ‘off the shelf’ as it were and I wanted some embellishing which Pronovias don’t offer, as well as adjustments.
The only real fear I had on the day was slipping / catching my dress – it was rather large with a lot of layers! Plus I had barely had the chance to practice before the actual day came around so mother of the bride was on hand to help do some run-throughs!
Mum wore a dress from Amanda Wakeley, which ended up perfectly matching our colour scheme. She was my support system throughout all the planning and I’m not quite what I would have done without her, especially int he last 4 weeks running up the wedding where my plan of ‘stay calm’ didn’t always work out so smoothly!
Waiting for my dad to come into the room and see me in my dress was probably the second most nervous I was all day, even writing about it now brings tears to my eyes. I don’t know why that particular moment gets me, but I think ever since I was a little girl, it’s a moment I’ve always envisioned and looked forward to – it’s not something you ever get to repeat.
I also knew he’d be nervous and have no idea what to say, so even though my relationship with him is extremely close, we were both a little speechless (a very rare occasion!).
After I saw my dad, we walked outside the hotel where the cars were collecting to take us to the venue just a few minutes down the road. Nerves were building, as was the rain!
