Sushi and Acrobatics: The Act Dubai

When great food alone is not enough, throw in some live music, theatrical dancing and ribbon climbing gymnasts.

If you’ve been following my Instagram, you’ll know my sister was in town for a few days so my week has turned into an eventful array of special occasions and new adventures (be prepared for A LOT of good food coming up on the blog this week!). First stop was The Act for something unique and exciting.

I’ve been to many a club in my days (which I completely appreciate sounds a) corny and b), makes me appear 20 years older than I am), but enough to know that the food served in clubs that have the option of dining before the dancing gets started, is more often than not – substandard. The Act, is a different ball game. They’re not offering dinner as a way to entertain guests before the main affair, but instead treating dinner and the show that goes with it as the main affair in itself and with that comes the quality of the food.

The tables are spacious, so even with 6 of us dining, there was room for more. It’s Pan Asian cuisine from the a la carte menu with a mix of sharing style concept dishes and single orders.

I particularly enjoyed the ‘yucca’ or possibly more commonly known as Cassava. I’m a truffle fan all round so the truffle aioli might have been a bit of a sway but it’s not something I’ve actually had before and it was cooked to perfection!

The show is broken up into different acts and live music which is perfect for enjoying all aspects of the evening, being able to talk when a show isn’t on.

The mushroom and truffle risotto oozed creaminess whilst the baby chicken was chargrilled perfectly and packed full of enriched spices and flavours!

For dessert, the big act (Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad) and a platter of utterly sensational chocolate brownies which I tried hard not to clear the plate of! Luckily I had some helping hands when they weren’t distracted by the impressive performance on stage…

It was a really nice way to spend a different type of evening in Dubai whilst still eating fab food with a great atmosphere!
