Sunday Champagne and Oysters

I’m not sure who followed who.

But either way, I’m excited.

Lavish, champagne afternoon brunches now available in Dubai and London. Aren’t we lucky?!

On my last weekend in the UK, I asked my sister and her new-fiancé to come and join Jack and I for a farewell (and celebratory) Sunday brunch at The Corinthia. 12.30-4pm and complete with a live jazz band … we didn’t waste time!

There are two choices, either a free-flowing afternoon of bubbly or a glass upon arrival.

Naturally, we opted for the free flowing and got stuck into warm, freshly baked loaves of bread. It was then a fight to speak at the table, as always with our family, and it’s no surprise my literature-savvy sister is the first to the mark.

Jack’s a good sport.

For starters, Jack and I had the champagne-glazed Carlingford loch rock oysters, topped with a creamy cheese and stuffed with spinach. I’m an Oyster fan all the way and loved trying them in a new light.

Jordy and Ieuan, my soon-to-be brother-in-law, have both recently gone plant based / vegan and they seemed to love their choices all the same. The Corinthia have dedicated vegan options, rather than just a ‘request on the day’ type thing and they were more than willing to make any substitutes necessary.

I absolutely love fresh berries in salads, give it a go if you’ve never tried it. ^

A few more sips and friendly-heated conversation later, we ordered mains.

It wouldn’t be a Sunday brunch without a classic roast option – I know it put a smile on my hubbie’s face!

Myself; the roasted Salmon with the most sensational orange marinated, fennel salad. The orange really brings the salad to life … a trick I’ll be taking with me.

And for Jordy and Ieuan, a rather stunning grilled summer vegetable gâteau and hearty vegan squash dish which was cooked to perfection.

The atmosphere was vibrant whilst still having the elegant charm that The Corinthia hones in on so well. Live music was the perfect addition to fill the tiffany-blue space of the Northall restaurant; in fact, time went so quickly that I think we were edging dinner time by the time we left!

But no brunch is fully complete without dessert. Between vanilla buttermilk waffles, coconut tapioca and strawberry eton mess – I stayed true to the British classics, and I’m so glad I did!

YUM.

You can find out more about The Corinthia Sunday Brunch by visiting their website here. The two price options are £55 with a glass of champagne and 3 courses, or £90 with free flowing bubbly. It is on the dearer side, but the food is incredible and it makes for the perfect special occasion setting!

Until next time,
