If you’ve been keeping up to date with my Instagram this week, you’ll know it was a lot of mother/daughter time! My mum came out to visit me in Dubai before we set off for an incredible 3 night stay in the Maldives (More on that in the next post!).
Before taking another flight, I decided treating her was needed and we set up shop at my favourite resort in Dubai – The Four Seasons. I love it there because unlike some bustling beach resorts here, you can actually relax with no sound of building work nearby and let’s be honest, the place is a tranquil haven!
Closely followed by the fact that the food is to die for, it wasn’t a hard to choice to spend both lunch and dinner there…
And a glass of bubbles of course.
I managed to take her for a flywheel class in the morning (pretty impressive given it was 5am her time!) so when we first lay down, the snacks were in full swing.
I wouldn’t usually opt for Arabic food for lunch as it can be quite heavy but this was genuinely (and unexpectedly, I must admit for a multi-cuisine restaurant) some of the tastiest Arabic food I’ve had in Dubai.
Arabic, minus the burrata of course, but who can turn that down!
After a few hours in the sunshine, we changed for dinner thinking sea-through dresses probably weren’t the most appropriate attire and waited for Jack to join us.
Sea Fu is The Four Season’s signature restaurant and the prettiest in the resort. It’s right on the beach with mosaic topped tables and open fire drink areas – pretty dreamy! I’ve eaten there once before for their Saturday a la carte brunch so I knew the food was going to be something pretty special.
For starters, a selection of beautifully presented Asian dishes.
Oysters with ponzu vinaigrette, tataki beef tenderloin and hokaido scallops, kani snow crab and tuna carpaccio.
Whilst the snow crab was a touch under seasoned, the tataki beef tenderloin was something to write home about. I’ve had Oysters here before and they lived up to the same mouth-watering expectations; beautifully fresh and full of salty, almost fruity tastes.
Fun fact! Did you know salt and acid cancel each other out on the tongue? So whilst Oysters could lead to a salt overload, a squeeze of lemon or dash of mignonette sauce over the top of them means you can enjoy more than a few :)
For mains, two of Chef Pierre’s signature dishes with the seared black cod and then forbidden rice made with scallops, prawns, calamari and edamame.
The rice is exceptional, not only beautifully presented but a perfect balance of flavours and texture; highly recommend it!
Black cod is an all time favourite of mine – it was cooked impeccably but I personally would have enjoyed a touch more of the marinade to go with it.
Finally, the lobster wonton (heaven on a plate!) with mushroom, leeks, lemongrass and coconut and the soya honey glazed beef short rib with green apple.
The green apple is a lovely concept I shall be taking away with me, it brings a welcomed freshness and slight sharpness to the dish!
No desserts on this rare occasion! I think the four main courses between three had the better of us..
Sea Fu is an idyllic spot on the beach with a pretty extensive menu to suit the entire family. The Four Seasons as a whole is such a wonderfully elegant property and I would be hard pushed to find somewhere else I’d prefer to stay if coming to Dubai for a week!
