Forget prep for the actual wedding, nails and facials are far more important! ;)
I know that in a man’s eyes, a woman getting ‘pampered’ sounds like the most lavish and relaxing thing to do in the world, and they tend to milk it for all it’s worth – but in all honesty, if we turned up to our wedding day (or any special occasion) with chipped nails, greasy hair and pores that hadn’t been looked after, they might have something more to say!
3 days before our wedding, I wrote J a list of 20 things that I needed his help with to be done for the wedding. Looking back, I honestly don’t think that the last few days can ever be super chilled even if you’re the most organised person there is, it’s such a last minute rush for all the little things! My brother was home so they had two strong sets of capable hands to paint boards, collect champagne, glue vases and arrange the house – dream! In the mean time, I was off to London with the mother of the bride for TLC and ‘us-time’. No plans other than to have a lovely day at one of the loveliest salons in London – Paul Edmonds – for pampering and a spot of lunch.
And I must admit, Jack and Max were my heroes that day; to be able to give men tasks (this isn’t sexism, just going off previous experience!) and have them all actually completed by the time you return, without any dramas, is a godsend!
With gorgeous sunshine pouring into London, it was a pretty walk from Knightsbridge tube to the salon. You can book in for everything from hair to nails to organic facials, semi-permanent make up and even men’s grooming! I’m totally for men looking after their nails and bodies as much as women (Minus the pink nail varnish.)
I walked in on a Thursday afternoon to the comforting hum of excited Londoners getting ready for the weekend. Below are some round-up shots minus the people to give you an idea of what the salon looks like. I personally find it rare to walk into a top end London salon and be greeted by receptionists who are smiley and welcoming – it was a pleasant change!
The ‘House’ is the cutest of facial treatment rooms. My skin was first examined in the comfort of the armchairs and we decided the best treatment from there. I’ve always been told not to have facials too close to a big event because it does follow the theory of “it’s got to get worse before it get’s better” but we went with the perfect choice and my skin felt great on the wedding day!
I had the Organic Arctic Berry Rejuvenating Facial which is from a brand called Éminence.
It’s a fruit acid exfoliation so all incredibly natural and good for the skin. They can also adjust the intensity of the acid depending on what your reasons are for the facial. I went quite mild given the wedding was in a few days but it made all the difference and really rejuvenated the skin!
Going into nails I had an idea of the wedding colour I wanted but seeing it in paint and on the nails is a different story! I had the BioSculpture Gel on hands and feet which still has not chipped to this day so I highly recommend it! They even added the tiniest nail tips to some of my nails to make sure every nail was the identical length – talk about perfection!
Everywhere is built for comfort and space, which is rare to find in some London salons!
Long gone are the days of doing treatments individually! We were a little rushed for time so I headed to a space in the salon that allows you to have hair, hands and feet all done at the same time in the same place! THAT, to me, is what makes this place dreamy! Relaxing is wonderful and I nearly fell asleep in my facial! However, 3 days before your wedding, there are 101 things on your mind and in all honesty you don’t want to be in a salon for hours on end so that was such a bonus!
I went away with my perfect wedding nail colour (A sort of pale pink/very faint white) and skin that was glowing and hydrated!
That evening saw a trip to one of my favourite spots in Wimbledon in Cannizzaro house to start the wedding celebrations!
