I last went to Blue Marlin a year or so ago on much less of a foodie note – it’s now pretty rare to see me out much past my bed time! However, since hearing their lunch menu is something to be desired, I thought it was the perfect occasion to pay them another visit.
The restaurant decor takes inspiration from Mediterranean style, with white tables and chairs, dressed with beautiful fresh flower bouquets.
It’s a sharing style concept, like many of my much-loved restaurants here. Pimientos de Padrón was the first dish I spotted and a real rarity to find in Dubai.
I live off these when I’m in Mallorca, some hot, some mild, all divine!
We then opted for hamachi sashimi, steak tartare, crispy fried squid and salmon sashimi salad, along with a work phone call or two … it never stops!
The pink peppercorns on the steak tartare were a lovely touch and something I’ll be taking home with me! The salmon sashimi salad, although doesn’t appear too filling, is in fact a perfect healthy option with crisp apple and spring onions thrown in.
The flies were clearly impressed with our selection too, but before we could raise a hand, one of the team were over with a smoking pot of ground coffee which keeps them away.
A great trick if you didn’t already know, it’s saved me on a fair few occasions!
For mains, the most sensational black cod and grilled tiger prawns for J, which I’m told were just as tasty!
By this time, the beach was starting to fill up ready for a big Friday evening. You can always guarantee a big crowd on the weekends at BMI.
We headed home after our feast, two very happy people! Wonderful food and great service – the best way to spend a Friday!
