So about last night … J and I went to a new, IN-credible restaurant in Dubai called J&G steakhouse – a Jean-Georges Vongerichten inspired concept.
The visit was down to a collaboration I’ve done with a brand new app in Dubai called Eat, which has completely revolutionised my dining experience as a real foodie! I’m going to show you all about it below AND better yet, I have money to give everyone off their first reservation on the app – who doesn’t love free food, hey!
Especially when it looks this good…
Eat is super simple but a brilliant concept – they have over one hundred of the best and most exclusive restaurants around Dubai and instead of wasting time calling the restaurant, searching google for the menu, ordering a taxi and checking the reviews – now it’s all in one place. In fact, I’ve just reserved tonight’s dinner through the app at Maine Oyster Bar and Grill, it’s genuinely something I haven’t stopped using just because it’s so easy.
Here’s how it works:
Scroll through their vast selection of fab restaurants, check out the menus for each of them, their trip advisor reviews, location and price point.
Like what you see? (Which we did! – how good does the J&G Steakhouse menu look?!)
Then book! Request the time, any special arrangements and the number of people and the restaurant will email/message almost instantly with whether your booking is confirmed. Anything that makes eating out simple for me is a winner.
BONUS!
For anyone who downloads the Eat app and makes a reservation at any one of the restaurants gets a very welcome 100 AED off their bill, just by entering the code LLGEAT when you book.
1. Download the app – http://bit.do/eatapp
2. Sign-up
3. Make a reservation and insert the code LLGEAT into the special requests box
4. Enjoy 100AED off your final bill!
But what about the food itself. THAT is a story to share … J&G Steakhouse has landed well and truly in my current top 3 Dubai restaurants.
Starting with classic James Bond style martinis, (Jack was in his element) and a freshly baked salted loaf that is good enough to not need anything else on the menu … restaurants really shouldn’t bake bread that good!
For starters;
Daily oysters, black truffle and comté cheese fritters, tuna tartare, crispy salmon sushi and their signature octopus dish.
The octopus was world class, best I have ever tasted. I’m personally not even much of a fan but it was cooked to perfection and I’m truly converted.
If you love truffle as much as I do, the fritters are an absolute winner, as are the crispy sushi. The only dish I would be hesitant to order again is the tuna tartare; although one of their most popular dishes, for me it was bland compared to the intense flavours and textures of the others.
Although I wouldn’t recommend having anything other than the steak, if you’re looking for something a little less red – there are a number of amazing sounding dishes for main course like roasted black cod and roasted lobster.
Jack and I both went for a classic steak with a side of truffle macaroni Cheese (sensational), grilled asparagus and hand cut french fries.
Although the sides could have a paragraph of praise in themselves, the real star was that steak. Oh my word…
J&G is without question, currently the best steakhouse in Dubai.
I had the ‘Stockyard silver label wagyu MB7’ (which is the marbling score of the meat, to give you an idea how fatty the steak is) fillet steak cooked blue. Just marvellous, and the best part about it is they know it’s that good – there’s no dressing it up or filling up the plate with other items; the steak is served alone in its full glory as it should be when something tastes this exceptional!
This is the kind of food and restaurants you can expect to book through EatApp, although there are more casual outlets too for an easy lunch/dinner.
Here are the T&Cs for the competition just to make sure you guys do the right thing and get the 100 aed bonus within the month!
VOILA!
Hope you guys enjoyed the read and if you want more information about both Eat and J&G Steakhouse, then check out their websites below. Any questions or comments, please leave them in the comment box below :)
