Healthy Coffee Smoothie

The whole healthy Starbucks after workout thing is, unfortunately, a rather large misconception. 90% of the fashionable-looking drinks coming out of Starbucks and most other coffee shops nowadays are full of sugar syrups and multi-coloured ‘toppings’ that turn a healthy pre/post workout coffee into a fast track for fat storage.

I’m talking coffee because a new speciality organic coffee brand called CRU Kafe (originally from the UK) has just launched in Dubai and it has everyone talking! Born from a kickstarter campaign back in 2013, three friends had the mission to create a brand of coffee that was not only Organic, Eco-friendly and Fair-Trade, but tasted like the real deal too. With a chef in the trio, they nailed that part pretty damn quickly!

One of the best things about CRU Kafe are their Nespresso® compatible pods … recyclable pods that come in all their insanely good coffee flavours and means we can finally say goodbye to limited (and pricey) options for our Nespresso® machines.

To celebrate the launch of CRU Kafe coffee into all Spinneys stores in Dubai, I’ve collaborated with them on this healthy coffee smoothie recipe using the CRU Kafe coffee. To say I’m a little bit in love with it would be an understatement, and that’s saying something given I’m normally a big tea drinker!

The recipe? As simple as popping everything into a blender and you have yourself the perfect pick-me-up that tastes delicious too. You can forget unhealthy coffee takeaways and make your own for a) a fraction of the price and b) much, MUCH tastier!

Hope you enjoy it and next time you’re doing your weekly Spinneys shop, pick a bag of CRU Kafe on the way :)
