So I’m currently putting a little plan in action to arrange Jack’s birthday which is in a few weeks time. This man expects very little but when it comes to restaurants and dining out, having a food blogger as a fiancé kinda gives him the all-clear to expect only the best … especially on a birthday.
That doesn’t just mean a restaurant that serves good food or is world renowned like the Zuma’s, Nobu’s and LPM … It means finding somewhere that offers a new experience and something we haven’t seen before. Fortunately in Dubai, that can be pretty easy to come by if you know where to look. There are countless restaurants opening up on a monthly basis but keeping track can be a little difficult!
Opportunely, a new website called One Night Only DXB has launched in Dubai which serves that very purpose; to become the all-knowing for the latest hot spots, restaurant deals and foodie triumphs in Dubai. He’ll be reading this so I can’t divulge which one but the restaurant I have chosen is at the top of ONO’s list. It’s simply a one-stop shop that means you can keep track of all the incredible and cool places that are opening around Dubai, along with great foodie deals, before it’s too late!
Before they launched, I did a little collaboration with ONO to showcase some of the outstanding restaurants Dubai has to offer and the type of thing you can expect to see on the site – the places that you don’t want to miss! If you’re a foodie in Dubai, be sure to tag any spectacular finds with the @OneNightOnlyDXB and the #onodxb hashtag for your chance to feature with them!
A beautiful little spot in the heart of Jumeriah. A very fresh and contemporary design with a real focus on quality ingredients and celebrating what they are. They’ve taken inspiration from all over the world and the result is really quite impressive! They’ve also just launched a cookery school so check them out!
The brunch that this renowned steakhouse offers is a cut above the rest. It redefines the whole brunching experience in Dubai, think classic, think champagne, impeccable service and outstanding food. It’s price point is up there with the best but it’s location tops most. Tall, ceiling-high glass windows offer views across Dubai and the elegant environment continues throughout the brunch, unlike many others!
If you’re looking for a spot to take friends and family to impress – this is the one. It over looks the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall fountains which have a show every 30 minutes throughout the evening. Their dishes are inspired by a mix of Italian and Seafood cuisine and has been voted best Seafood restaurant 3 years in a row (What’s On magazine), with good reason.
The head chef is infectious with his passion for his creations and recipes. There’s some great at-the-table demonstrations … we had the tomato and basil ravioli which was packed full of flavour, the Sea bass which was as fresh as any other fish I’ve had in Dubai and a Porcini mushroom risotto which is finished in a parmesan bowl giving it the most incredible creamy texture.
Asian cuisine typically proves quite hard to fault (especially if it’s your favourite) but it’s rare to find a great Japanese restaurant that is unexpectedly fun and informal. Izakaya has an extensive authentic menu and be sure to try their signature pan fried Hokkaido scallops with yuzu miso, served with Yamamomo berries!
Go check out One Night Only DXB now to find your food crush!
