Serves: 1 Large jar apple sauce
Unsweetened Apple Sauce
  • 1kg Royal Gala apples
  • 600ml boiling water
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  1. Peel and quarter the apples
  2. Add them to the boiling water with the lemon juice
  3. Reduce to a simmer and cover, stirring occasionally.
  4. Simmer for 20-25 minutes until the apples are starting to break apart and completely cooked throughout.
  5. Drain off the water and blend until you get a smooth texture.
  6. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 6 months.
  7. Note* For a more chunky texture for savoury dishes, use a potato masher.
